If you are anything at all like me (and my heart goes out to you if you are, poor thing!) then you will have a great love for your home. After all, our living space is where we can kick back and forget all about the stresses and strains of our day! And this is why we should always take the time, effort and expense to make our abode as comfortable and homely as possible…

Now, interior design will normally be a whole lot easier than you realise as long as you just go about it all in the right way. Whereas the worst thing you can do is to simply go diving in blindly… and this is because you will quickly end up feeling totally overwhelmed by it all! However, if you are to make a point of taking your time, planning things out carefully and tackling one room at once, then everything else should pretty much drop into place. Which is all so much better than discovering you have bitten off far more than you are able to chew, isn’t it?

Of course, it is entirely down to you to decide on which room to tackle first… although the living room is usually a fairly safe bet. And that is because it is the main room downstairs; where most of us will spend the majority of our time. Besides, once that the living room has undergone the ‘magic treatment'you will always have a great spot to relax – even before you make a start on any of your other rooms!

A lot of people find the whole business of interior design pretty scary. However, it will only seem this way if you have never tried your hand at it before. Like many things in life it is daunting until you have a little experience. And once you have you will find it can actually be a whole lot of fun! You would also be surprised at how many people get a real buzz from decorating and DIY; from bankers and lawyers to haberdashers and guys who run a car scrapping Surrey service !

Because there are so many wallpapers, paints, fixtures and fittings on the market these days, it is easy to create any conceivable look in a home. In fact, the only real boundaries you will ever come across in the world of interior design are those of your own imagination!

Whatever the decoration job you is that you are undergoing in your home, it is important to select the correct materials, and color themes to make your environment a relaxing and uplifting one. It is no new revelation that colour affects mood, so choosing the right colour for your home environment is essential. White is actually a colour which causes conflict between experts as it can cause a conflict of moods.

White can often be seen as being a clinical, stark, and very impersonal. It is often used in kitchen or bathroom areas in public spaces such as offices and restaurants due to the need for a clean and sterile place, however using white in a home environment can be a bad move. One way to turn a stark and sterile white colour choice into an interesting, warm and homely look is by going for the shabby chic look. This is created by painting surfaces with a matt white paint, and then distressing it in parts to create an old and worn appearance. Not only does the shabby chic appearance take away from the stark and clinical finish of white painted kitchen cabinets or tables, etc, but it also adds character to a room.

Shabby chic is extremely popular at the moment, and is a trend which is being taken up by masses of people who are looking to design uplifting, yet personal home space. As well as distressing surfaces, cabinets or worktops, it is possible to add a number of ornaments and items of interest to the room to create a full effect. White can be made into an uplifting and bright colour, whilst still retaining warmth and personality. Anyone looking for a fresh look in their homes should consider this as an option as it can be a great look, and it is a very current trend amongst the rich and famous.

If there are any two things that really stand to throw a spanner in the works when you’ve already got grand designs in mind for your home decorating plans, cash and time are the – or indeed lack thereof. There are certain times when all the inspiring TV shows and magazines in the world fall flat from the word %u2018go’for those with the more realistic of budgets and timeframes to deal with, so with the concerns of the masses in mind, the following are five excellent examples of instant home makeover tips guaranteed not to pack a wallop to the wallet

Pace Yourself – First and foremost choose one room even one area of a room at a time, as attempting to cover the whole house at once is a great way of ending up with a half-finished job weeks down the line without a penny left in the coffers. The Power of Paint – Designers the world over swear by paint as the most amazing tool at the disposal of any amateur decorator, as there is nothing on Earth that can bring a new dynamic, mood or whole lease of life to a room like a fresh lick of paint. Even if you’ve only time to paint one wall at a time, a two-tone effect is often far from a bad thing.

Consider Moving – Not referring to calling in the couriers Birmingham to move home, but instead moving around your furniture. All too often we become attached to one furniture arrangement and never even consider a move around, when doing so can transform a room in seconds to a surprising extent. Art Movements – Just like the above, stationary art becomes boring an unnoticed art, so given your ornaments and pictures a quick switch around for a dramatic new effect. Piece by Piece – If time and funds are really at a premium, give thought to instead painting cabinets, tables, maybe wooden chairs or other fittings around any given room – far cheaper than new furniture and a superb creative outlet to boot!

The time has finally arrived again when the energy draining and drive sapping characteristics of the dark, old winter months are finally drawing to a close and dreams of a bright and sunny spring begin to take hold. It really doesn’t take a great deal to see any home ready to simply burst with the joys of the most rejuvenating season of the year, therefore follow these top five key tips and prepare for a world of positivity to fight back against the winter blues:

· Keep on Movin’

One of the very best ways of adding new vitality and energy to a home without spending so much as a penny is to simply move around the furniture and fixtures already inside! By moving around living room furniture to afford a new seating position or simple rearranging pictures and ornaments, it is astonishing how big a difference this can make to overall outlook and positivity.

· Let There Be Light!

It sometimes becomes difficult over the winter months to remember the joy that can be brought in by blue skies and sunlight, therefore consider removing net curtains and the like to ensure all the finest windows and patio doors Surrey has to offer allow the room to positively bathe in natural light.

· Quick Makeover

If you don’t have time to do a full spring clean, you almost certainly have time to remove a little bit of clutter and dust around. Every little helps and the difference can be enormous.

· Show TLC to Windows

True, there is little point in keeping windows spotless in the winter months, but don’t forget to give them all a good solid clean when spring approaches. Just five minutes or so can maximize all the wonderful sunlight your home drinks in and bring a lovely shiny new dynamic.

· Invite Nature Indoors

Last but not least, when the first blossoms, daffodils and other springtime lovelies begin to show themselves, invest in as many as realistically possible to adorn all four corners of the home. It is a proven fact that plants and flowers bring new life and energy to any room simply by being present and in the case of those we’re blessed with in the spring can also offer quite staggering beauty.

Work has been very frustrating and monotonous lately. Part of my job today was to install the complete recruitment software package on all the 30 computers in the HR department. I know those of you who have high pressure jobs would be thinking what a complainer, but trust me, if you have to do the same things again and again, then it just becomes very frustrating. It’s just like eating the same food again and again, till you finally run from the very sight of it.

These are the kind of boring days when I would want to lock myself in my beautiful home. There are two reasons why I call my home beautiful, one because it’s actually beautiful and secondly because I designed it myself. Oh, don’t start thinking of me as a great interior designer; I am just a regular person, with the only difference of having the courage to try out most of things that come into my mind.

There are few things that you would need to keep in mind if you are not an interior designer by profession and still want to design your home yourself. Firstly, make sure that before you start going through the catalogues you get a pen and a paper to make note of the things that you for sure want in your home. If you are alone, this is easy, but if you live with family, then you will need to get inputs from everybody along with a bit of people management as well. Next, you can go through the catalogues and start matching the things you want and the things available in each design. Try and select a design which is very close to what you want and then you can always add the things that are not in there. If you are planning to bring in new furniture, then make sure that you measure the house and the furniture, to avoid an awkward situation. Once all this is done, you can go ahead with the builders. For confidence you can even discuss the plan with an interior designer. That’s all and you will have a house designed by yourself.

My work in the sales line ensures that I am away from home most days of the week. While travelling to meet clients and team members I usually stay in motels or inns as I just need to sleep the night before moving on. Through it all, I pine to get back home, sleep on the familiar contours of my bed, and enjoy the little things that make up our home.

The place we call home did not happen overnight. My wife and I always wanted a beautiful place we did from scratch. After traversing through all the ‘For Sale'ads for months, we finally came across what is today our cocoon. When we first saw it, we just adored the place. Only catch was that it was priced more than what we had in mind. Tight finances meant we could just about stretch and buy the place. Initially, we made do with the very bare necessities and slowly, as things improved, we started buying things for the house bit by bit. Each thing we bought was scrutinised and compared for utility and its aesthetic value before our hard earned money was put down. No roller banner ad could tempt us to buy something, unless it passed muster beyond our stringent evaluation! This dedication to buying only what we liked and enjoyed often proved to be a costly affair and meant there were very few holidays, outings or eating out. But we were more than happy to make these small sacrifices. We wanted a home we could come back to after the travails of each day to relax, unwind and enjoy what we had created.

Today our home is a place where we look forward to coming back to. All the sacrifices and hard work shows: friends and family unfailing comment on the peace and calm that emanates from our home. And I enjoy my work trips as I know I have something my wife and I enjoy when I get back!

One of the best places to recede to after a long day or night’s work is your home. It is the one place that we dream of being while at work or even when out and about. The home should be that one special place where you can feel like you can relax on all levels, you feel comfortable and safe, and just get away from the hassle and bussle of everyday life.

Everyone has a different personality, which definitely is one of the first things people realize as they enter your home, no matter how big or small it is. The best way to add that special touch is to merely customize it to your likings, no matter what the architecture is! This can be a fun weekend activity to do with friends or family. Throw a party, change everything around and find the perfect way to make your home very homely. Some of the best ideas come from variations of other artists or architects, so why not include ideas of the London Builders, who can model your home to your liking! The use of professionals may be key to your, home because they can change things quickly and efficiently.

Even the latest magazine articles found in famous magazines give us tips on how to make our home more homely. Through the use of personalization and natural energy, such as the light of the sun, you can bring great energy into your home! Aiming for great dynamics in the home is the best idea, and is even reiterated by eastern practices that support creating positive “fengshui” energy in each of your rooms. Using the architecture of your home to your advantage is key and decorating it with live objects, such as plants, is a great way to freshen the air and even the feel of your new room.

Most homes have at least one room or area that suffers from a lack of natural light. North-facing rooms are particularly bad as they miss out on direct sunshine, but also halls, landings and all sorts of nooks and crannies can be dim and gloomy.

The easiest – and most decorative – way to shine a little light into this darkness is with mirrors. Since they reflect any light that is already available, they immediately make a room seem to have much more natural light than it really does. And if you add light from a lamp or overhead fixing, the mirrors really make a room glow.

Narrow hallways definitely need a mirror to help not only with more light, but also to give an impression of more space. This is also true in small bathrooms. Every bathroom needs plenty of mirrors – lets not try shaving or putting on make-up without one! You might think that a small bathroom needs a small mirror to match, but no, the bigger the better to make the room look bigger and brighter.

Mirrors can also artificially change the shape of a room. For example, a big mirror on the longest wall makes the room feel wider, since light is reflected onto the smaller walls.

Mirror frames have always been seen as an opportunity for elaborate decoration, and there is such a wide choice of frames now that you can always find one to match the style and decor of the room or your overall home.

A word of warning. Mirrors are heavy! They need strong hooks fixed to the wall with long, large screws. A good bosch drill is the ideal tool for hanging mirrors, and will help you get the holes drilled and screws fixed in quickly and easily.

One of the problems with modern houses is that people often dedicate their lounge to electronic media, instead of embracing the play room or games room. All too often family dissent can be fuelled by arguments about the telly or games consoles. If there are children in your family, designing and stocking an interactive and exciting game room that suits all ages and does not have any electronics is a worthwhile and wonderful choice.

Harry Potter is a god send for introducing lewis chessmen and the joys of chess playing to the younger generation. Embracing the theme of the ancient pieces is a great way to start in decorating your room. If you search the internet you will find a variety of large scale furnishing that mirror the 12th century look of the pieces. You can copy the colour scheme used in the film and opt for a nice dark red carpet. This is a strong choice for the games room because it will hide a variety of sins. Alternately, you could opt for a wood or tile floor, because invariably there will be family picnics, and then warm the space up with some nice red area rugs.

This video shows a great idea for having an indoor hopscotch game. If you are crafty, you can make a set that will fit in with your room and its decor as the one in the video wouldn’t really stick with the Harry Potter theme of your game room. It is a great idea though, to have physical activities that can be played inside on a rainy day. You can also shop online for chess, hopscotch, or even train track area rugs that look great and are a fun place to create an imaginary world. While kids love a trunk or suitcase for dressing up, this can quickly get boring for adults. Puppet shows and puppet stages, though, can combine play acting with something that would be fun and appealing to the whole family. If your kids are older, you can explore board games. Scrabble is great for the whole family, but it is a good idea to have some sort of a method of deciding who gets to choose the game and to stick with it. Let your children choose the games to begin with, to get them into the habit. Be a good sport and you will soon have a great and fun family games room used by everybody.

You may be prepared to spend many hours finding the cheapest source of fuel for your off road vehicles. You will compare estimates of red diesel Leeds with estimates from other places to take the right decision. If you make a mistake, you will probably end up spending a few pounds more than your competitor. Yet, you refuse to undertake the same level of efforts when something far more precious is at stake.

If you feel that meditating alone is a waste of time, try to encourage your family members to join you in the process. This would be a fun exercise where you can spend quality time with your family members without any worries. Try having dinner five minutes early every day and spend the extra time on a quick session of medication. Spiritual activities invariably lead to a lot of peace of mind because it automatically involves medication techniques.

Why don’t you try some scented candles to set the right mood in your house? It is important to bust stress through not just meditation but by changing the atmosphere and environment in your house. The best part is that scented candles will not cost a lot of money and will be effective in setting the right mood.

Try watching wholesome entertainment on the television or some entertainment that you can share with all your family members. More time you spend with your family, easier will become to get rid of the excess stress in your life no matter how tough conditions are at work.
